Here's another version of the concept car--comments requested for ideas.  There will be some blank space at one end for railroad required markings.

Once again, just photomanipulation!

Absolutely the best fight pics--just WOW!

Which sneakers?

A simple question, really, and a silly deviation to post...but I need to make a choice.  Which sneaker looks better; which sneaker will I buy?

Mind Games: Erika and I

Some time ago, I did an assortment of pics of ringdoc82.deviantart.com/'s stunning Erika and myself in the ring, and in th barn, busily trying to rearrange each other's faces...some brutal action-and Erika looks GOOD, I think.  I'll be digging through my archives and sharing all of them over time.

This is a simple face off, as we try to get into each other's heads--before fists are in faces.

Here's another pic of Erika and I, illustrating an important part of any fight.  The interaction before the fight can determine the outcome when fists start to fly--if someone's convinced they will lose, then they WILL.  Erika and I are meeting for some friendly (but very rough and painful) fun in the old barn, and she's trying to intimidate me--but I don't intimidate.  (That impressive body, hard fists, and great muscles are will worth looking at, though...nice view I have!)

Even though it's bareknuckle, I'm also including it with "Essence of Boxing," since the mind games are the same either way.

This is going to hurt!

Erika and I got together for some hot rough fun.  She sees how much I admire her muscles, and is showing off.  Friends, we are--and ready to beat the tar out of each other, too.

My First Knockout

I was reminiscing about the boxing I did long and long ago, and thought I'd start writing a short story about those days long gone.  This is set in the 1970's, when there were no computers in homes, and a good book was one of the finest entertainment available.  Kids went to summer camp, and got where they wanted to go on their bicycles.  No cell phones--in summer, you had to be home before daylight, and if you were going far (more than 5 miles or so by bicycle) you had to call--same if you wouldn't be home for supper.
Enjoy!

Constructive criticism welcome; I am always trying to improve my writing technique--description, dialogue, which details to include or leave out--the works.  The more I know what works and doesn't, the easier more writing is.

My First Knockout Section One improved

After the feedback I received, I revised the beginning of "My First Knockout" as well as incorporating a bit more of the lead-up to the fight.  I tried hard to keep the important things as I improved the flow.  Thanks for all the feedback...enjoy!
I hope this is better than the previous effort.

My First Knockout revised and expanded

I've been working on "My First Knockout," and reached the official beginning of the fight.  I posted the whole thing to date, as I've also made some mild changes in the earlier part.  Next post will have the punches flying-lots of them.  Kids tend to fight all out, not worrying about subsequent rounds as they hammer each other.
So--what think you all about both the story, and my writing ability?  This is still as much an exercise in improving my writing skills as it is telling a stroy--a story that I hope will be enjoyable.

Sam Shows Off

Samantha is ready for a fight, looking across the ring at you and showing off her magnificent body.  Better not get distracted by that pretty face—she means to hurt you, and she’s got what it takes to do it.

Old pic that I hadn’t posted, taken just before beating up the smaller Tara—or trying to, anyway.  Enjoy!  (Sam's 2" taller and ~25 pounds heavier than Tara)

What Means The Pledge?

Selene by GunnerSteve

Over time, I have greatly admired GunnerSteve's boxing art.  gunnersteve3d.deviantart.com/ I especially admired his boxer Venus, she looks wonderful, and looks like she'd be a lot of fun to hit.  :)
Well, he was pleased that I liked Venus, and offered to put some time into rendering me in 3D, with the possibility, as his time permits, of putting me in the ring with Venus.  Of curse, it was onl;y after that that he put up the character cards, she outweighs me by 40 pounds!  OUCH!  But I would still get in the ring with her in a heartbeat!  This is the result.  I wish I really looked this good!  (I probably won't look good when Venus is done with me...but she'd feel my leather as well...

You can see how we'd stack up here:  gunnersteve3d.deviantart.com/a… and gunnersteve3d.deviantart.com/a…

Thanks to GunnerSteve for drawing this pic, and for permission to post it.

Just something I wrote a long time ago, that I think every boxer's encountered at some point.

Experiments in Color

Babe Didrikson Zaharias colorized

I've been interested in colorizing pics for a bit, and this one seemed like a good one to experiment with: media.npr.org/assets/img/2011/…
It can take a little while to do, and I'm certain that there are many easier methods, but here's what I did, for any that are interested:
I loaded the pic into GIMP, and set up multiple layers.  Then, on one layer, I erased everything but, for example, the shirt.  Once that was done, I used the colorize function to color it to taste.  Repeat with gloves, shorts, skin, eyes...
I'm satisfied with the look here, and I can change the colors of the clothes easily, since I saved the GIMP file.
Babe Didrikson was an amazing woman and athlete, playing many sports: among others, basketball, track and field events, boxing, and best known for golf.
I love this pic.  She's not worrying about looking good, or sexy, just about fighting.  the look on her face is so intense--whoever the recipient of that look will be shaken unless she is also very confident in herself.
It's also one of the very first pics I saw, long and long ago, of a woman in boxing gloves, back in first or second grade, showing classmates that women can do anything.
