Melissa continues her offensive. She’s felt my power—once—and knows that I hit hard—but not as hard as she does. In return, she’s been pounding me with brutally hard blows, hitting me almost at will. After a few more rib punches, she lashes out with a hard uppercut, getting me up out of my stance as I see stars.
At this point, unless I can somehow reset my strategy during the upcoming break, the outcome’s a forgone conclusion, and all that remains is the formality of knocking me out—whenever and however viciously she wants to. But—I haven’t accepted that conclusion, and I’m determined to keep fighting. I can be knocked out—but I don’t give up. Even so, turning this mismatch around is going to be TOUGH. She’s stronger, much more experienced, and to make things worse, a little bit faster. Pride got me into this—and that same pride won’t let me admit defeat.
At this point, it’s not the hurt that she’s dealt me that is the important thing—though it’s considerable—it’s the fact that I haven’t been able to do much to her, and that now we both know how much of a mismatch this is. This could be a long, painful evening…
