Expectations…
Of course, there’s another alternative that Melissa likes at least as much. I’m not out; instead, I’ve been punched to the canvas after a prolonged pounding, but I’m aware of my surrounds, more or less. Ideally, I could struggle to my feet, but don’t try—the ultimate win to some people—punching me out so bad that my will to fight is gone, and I choose to stay down rather than face those fists some more. Even better, if she can see fear on my face, then it’s a perfect fight—or beating.
If she can’t break my will to fight, then breaking my ability to fight, in such a way that I know that it’s not luck, but the skilled work of a superior fighter, is almost as good. Either way, I don’t loose consciousness, and am fully aware of my demolition. Ideally, from her point of view, I’m unwilling to face her fists in a rematch—or if I do, I’ll be beat before the first punch is thrown.
So—is this scene in the future of this fight?
