Erikas thoughts
As boxers are working the bag, most of us are seeing whats happening as if we were in the ring against an actual opponent. And in this case, Erikas mistaken my coaching attempts for taunting. So, as she throws that brutal punch at the bag, shes envisioning me on the end of it. This is what shes seeing in her minds eye her nice small, 8 or 10 ounce horsehair padded glove, driven by her massive 220+ pound body, landing right on my jawall that weight and muscle focused on that one point
Even though my left is in position to snap upwards into her jaw, it's of no concern--if I'm even concious, she'll just absorb it and smash me with a crushing right--she's a brawler, and takes a lot of punches to dish out her devastation.
Rather than wearing the Reyes training gloves, shes in her brutally small custom gloves with the Helgaz rune on them. (Thats the Norse rune for destruction.) Likewise, shes seeing me in dark brown Everlast fight gloves as shes thinking a full blown fightwith a full blown knockout for me.
Erikas no bully, and wouldnt normally fight mebut in this case, Id strongly implied that I could beat herand she doesnt back down from a challenge.
Sohow close to accurate is her image of what will be happening when the fight happens?
Technical notes:
The punch is exactly the same, but moved from hitting the bag to hitting me. Her toes are pointed somewhat inwardsa position for maximum power, such as on the ropes, when an opponent has nowhere to gobut if I do slip free, shes poorly situated to chase me.
Horsehair is the padding used in the past for boxing gloves. Its not as soft as modern foam padding, so in insures that a greater percentage of the punch is transmitted to the opponents face or body, and Erika wants to both feel her opponents power and insure that none of her own power goes to waste. A very few modern gloves are bringing horsehair back.
Erika belongs to [link] and is going to get in the ring with me with his permission.
