Selene's Thoughts

As Erika pounds the heavy bag, bending it almost double, she has thoughts of what that punch should be doing—sending a certain redhead first to the moon, then to dreamland, as depicted in the previous pic.

I have other thoughts. Clearly, getting hit with those punches would be a very bad idea, but Erika’s not especially fast, and she’s throwing single punches, or at most two punch combos. I can see them coming well before they would get to my face or body, and the way she carries herself, she should be distinctly easy to hit.

As she throws her brutally powerful—but slow—hook, I drop, letting the punch sail overhead as I lash out at her unprotected jaw with a solid left uppercut. Of course, her right is nicely placed to punch me—but a graceful fade should let it go by, leaving me well placed to nail her again.

How will the fight turn out? Will her ponderous power, or my speed and determination prevail? Clearly, both our images of the inevitable collision can’t be right; someone’s getting knocked out.
